Overall, I am pleased with the still photo quality of my Panasonic digital video camera.
It advertises 3.1 Megapixel for stills, but I'm probably only getting 2.9 or so. Nevertheless, it takes fairly decent stills in well lit areas (outdoors). As the reviews for this
Panasonic PV-GS250
mentioned, it does not capture as high quality in low light (indoors), and that goes for it's still photography capabilities as well as video.

First of all, Happy
Moon Cake
Day everybody!
My new
Panasonic PV-GS250
is in!!!
I went filming with it for the first time this Sunday. Today, explored Manhattan and shot on location at Downtown Manhattan (Broadway, WTC Site, Federal Plaza, and surrounding areas), Times Square 42nd Street, and Chinatown (
NYTTF Table Tennis Traning Center
).
I will try to edit the table tennis segment together by the end of the week as my first experimental film making project. Indeed!
Oh, and 2 new photo sets are up under the
Photos
section. Enjoy!

Went to
Telehouse America: Broadway Center
with the system administrator to service a couple servers. This is my second trip to a data center. I always imagined a data center would be like the marbled government building with armed guards as in
The Matrix
. But it's not that impressive really, hehe.
Today is 9/11. I went to the World Trade Center site for the first time today. They were reading off the names of people who died at the WTC on 9/11. There was a fairly large crowd there taking pictures, video, and stuff like that. Too bad I didn't have a camera to take photos with. There were a lot of people there with nice video cameras as well documenting the memorial events.
Speaking of which, I just ordered the
Panasonic PV-GS250
! I've been eye'ing it for the past several months. So it should come in by the end of the week and I can start my hobby in film making. Finally!! :)
Also went to Battery Park and Southport Pier. I explored more of New York City today than I have for the past 9 months here. Will have video/photos when I get my DV cam in! :D

I am working on the Administrative side of NGNY. So far, I've created the Blog Management section.
This section will allow me to:
View a list of entries made by entry date, either the last 20 entries, or expanded view of all entries
Select from this list of entries to edit
Write a new blog entry
Search for an entry to update by entry date
Delete entries from database
View/Edit/Delete comments left for an entry
This whole project will be a great portfolio example in my use and practice of PHP, MySQL, and end-user/administrative interface design. :)

Can you believe the flooding in New Orleans? o_o
Can you believe the looting and unrest? O_O
They say like 1/3 of the police force left during the hurricane. And they have gangs roaming the streets with AK47's and rifles. All the rampant looting and violence, oh dear!
I watched most of the videos on
CNN.com
and they just show a crazy scene down there in the south. Entire houses submerged, bodies lying on the streets being eaten by rats (so says one person), a free for all in the streets! And the videos also show that President Bush is horrible at giving public speeches.
Talk about
Grand Theft Auto
in real life! (except for the flooding) >_< 'oh dear'

New NGNY website launched. It's been too long working on this new site, and it's still not complete. Nevertheless, I decided to open it up and continue to add more content when I have time.
The
NGNY Blog
is now fully database driven. It is using a free
MySQL
database provided by
db4free.net
. No more using writing to .txt files for entries!
Yes, I'm still in New York. Will update you all more on what's new later. Enjoy the first 2
NGNY Photo Sets
. I will add descriptions to them soon. These photos pages are also dynamically created using
PHP directory functions
.
This is all in an effort for me to create an easily to update webpage, which will allow me to add more content quicker and without the hassel of writing pages upon pages of HTML. :P

I'm redesigning and revamping NGNY to be better than ever. This will take awhile though, but it will be my official New York webpage.
Will try to release NGNY v2 by August or earlier if possible.
I'm debating getting a digital video camera. It will cost about $750. Should I get it? Should I? If I do, it will be my new hobby. I've been wanting to get into film making for the longest time. And now that I have the computer resources to edit my videos, I think it will be so much fun.
In response to my last entry. Living here with the Wong's is nice, and I do appreciate the perks of living with them and grandma. However, I do not feel I am improving myself enough. It is like the recent high school graduate who decides to live at home and go to a local college instead of leaving home and experiencing college life. Sure, this person is saving a lot of money, and might not even have to take out any student loans. But what this person is missing out on is all the great things to be learned and experienced (either by self will or being forced to).
I feel my college experience is a testament to this argument. I have changed my whole outlook on life during college for the better. I have learned many things the hard way, but the experience of making my mistakes is a part of life and a part of growing. It is the freedom and independence gained. It is the knowledge and skill learned. How long will I be sheltered? I am 23 years old. It is time to make it on my own.
Besides, if I really wanted it rough, I would have stayed in Palm Beach living with my parents... now THAT is rough! I am getting fat living with the Wongs. I need to change my diet. Cook my own meal or starve. I need to refocus.

Where is my life headed? I don't know...
I think I need to make more changes in my life. I think I need to find my own place to live. I think that environment will give me the right mind set to strive for better things in life.
I need to stop being so lazy. I am as lazy as Wolfie and BaoBao.

Happy 4th of July weekend everybody. :)
I guess I will be working on the 4th of July. I don't know what else I would be doing if I stayed at home, so I guess I should just goto work instead.
I've been playing around with computer stuffs a lot more these past days. I installed
FreeBSD
on a virtual machine on my computer. I finally got the
Perl DBI
and DBD::MySQL working today! I can now practice more Perl programming at home. :P For those of you who don't know what this is, it's ok.
I need to improve my diet! Should create a page dedicated to my diet and keep track of my eating habits, foods, and other nutrition information.
My little brother and little sister, Tony and Anny respectively, are on summer break now. I should hang out with them more. Cousin Quinn, Jamie, and Amy are also on summer break. Quinn plays computer games most of the day, Jamie is out most of the day, and Amy is watching Chinese series most of the day.
I try to get Amy to be more productive with her summer, but she doesn't want to do things besides stay home and watch Chinese series. I want to teach her kung fu, I think she'd be pretty good at it if she were less lazy and more disciplined! :)
I have so much to say about my cousins, but I'll leave that for future articles, when I get around to them. I try to keep myself pretty busy now with learning more programming and FreeBSD, I need to keep focused and not be lazy!
