Hello all,

I hope everyone had a good winter break. Classes have resumed and soon so will our practices.

Our first meeting of the spring semester will be held on this Monday, January 10th. Our meeting time and place is still 6:00-8:00 in Tully Gym (Monday and Wednesday in the lobby, Friday in the gymnasium on court 4). Please be advised this may change at the end of the month due to spring facility requests.

I look forward to seeing everyone Monday, and as always remember to bring your FSU ID card and proper workout attire.

Greetings all!

As we wind up another successful semester of learning and practicing, I hope that all students have gained much knowledge and skill.

We will be taking club photos this Friday, December, 3 during practice time (6PM). If you have a club t-shirt, please sport it! Black pants would be nice too.

Weather you are an old member, current, or new one, you are all welcome to participate in taking these historical photos! :)

This will also be our last formal practice of the Fall 2004 semester. Informal practices will be held next week during finals week. So if you feel like taking a break to crawl out of your study hole, come expell that built up frustration and energy!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact via cell: 850-980-3547. Hope to see you all tomorrow! Jiayo!

Sincerely,
Ng, Alex

Hey everyone, this is just an e-mail about the rest of the semester's practices. We will not meet tomorrow, which is 11/24/04 for practice. If you don't already know, most of our members have already left for the Thanksgiving break or plan to leave right before practice.

Next week we will have our regular practices and finish up the semester strong. On December 3rd we will be taking group photos for the club, so please plan on attending. And our last formal practice will be on the Friday before finals week. See you all after Thanksgiving, Justin De -FSU Wushu.

Greetings to all.

Long and behold, our beloved club has grown and survived 2 years.

To commemorate this occasion, we will be having a dinner together this Friday, October 22nd.

We will be meeting momentarily at the Tully Gym at 6:00PM, to arrange rides for those who need it, and then head out to China Super Buffet. We will probably be there by 6:30-6:45PM. You may meet us there to avoid the traffic of coming onto campus if you wish.

China Super Buffet is located at:
2698 N. Monroe St.
Tallahassee, FL 32303

Going North on Monroe, it is passed Tallahassee Mall. It is located on your LEFT hand side pass Sharer Rd. If you reach Lakeshore Dr., you've gone too far! Traffic will probably be very hectic on Tennesee St. due to homecoming, so you are encouraged to avoid using Tennesee if at all possible.

Members, new and old, friends, and all wushu fans are invited to attend. This occasion comes but once a year, and we hope to see you all tomorrow.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Ng, Alex

Hey everyone! Congratulations to the students who participated and completed wu bu quan testing on Friday. If you haven't tested there are still many opportunities to do so.

Informal practice is Oct. 3rd at 4:00 pm. We'll meet outside the Tully gym as always. If you want to test your form, you should also bring something to drink and wear light, appropriate clothes.

Our Club annicersary banquet is coming up! The date set for this is Oct. 22, 2004. We'll meet up at the Tully just as we usually do for Friday practice, and then figure out transportation. Cost will be 10 dollars per person. Also, bring a bit of change for the tip. It should be a great time to hang out and get to know other club members. Bring a friend too!

Have a great first week of October. Be sure to check our website for more updates!

I announced at practice that on Friday Oct. 1 there will be volleyball in the Tully Gym. For practice, we'll meet up in front of the Tully lobby and move (possibly to landis green). Practice is still at the same time and everything else.

We will be doing our Wu Bu Quan (5-stance form) testing on Friday. Might want to get a small snack 2-3 hours before practice and bring something to drink during practice. Also, be sure to wear appropriate attire. I don't think that the tests will take the whole practice time but we'll have plenty of time to do them. Try and wear your club T-shirt to practice on Friday. This way people won't be asking "what club are you guys in"?

I'll announce on Friday where we'll have informal practice on Sunday. Feel free to come out to these practices even if i's just for a short while. Whatever you want to practice or learn can be addressed at these practices.

Ok, have a great rest of the week. Sincerly-

We will be starting our Summer training next week (May 10th).

Our practice schedule will be as follows:

Day: Monday & Wednesday
Time: 6:00PM - 8:00PM
Location: Tully Gym Lobby

We might add an additional informal practice depending on the number and needs of students.

Further, the following dates will be Seminole Showcase dates:

May 17, 20, 24, 27
June 1, 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24
August 16

We will try to table at most of these dates. We will have a table in the union during these freshmen orientation dates. If you would like to help out, it would be great! Just e-mail or give me a call. We will try to set up some attention catching demos for this as well.
4/29/04
Well, I hope you all did well on your finals and hopefully passed all your courses with good grades. We are heading into the summer and for those of you who are going home for the summer, have fun and hope to see you ready to train in the fall. And for those of you who will be staying up here for the summer, let's get together and practice!

Practice - This Friday (April 30th)! 5PM at the Tully Gym Lobby. Yes, that's 5PM! What better way to release the stress of finals than wushu?!

A few members of our club recently attended the Asian Student Union Awards Banquet. If you did not know, FSU Wushu is a member organization of the ASU. I accepted the 2003/2004 President of the Year award for our club at this event, which I am thankful for. With the passage of time, so does new leadership. I would like to introduce our new officers for the 2004/2005 school year.

2004/05 President - Steven Sakata
2004/05 Treasurer - Justin DeAngelis

These officers will make the bulk of the decisions concerning the club and will hopefully continue to lead FSU Wushu on a path to success! I might be around in the Fall, and I will serve as a student advisor to help out with the club when needed.

For the summer, as you might know, facility space is scared and limited. I have requested any evenings we could get. These requests are currently being processed, but do not garuntee any available space. With this in mind, we will probably be utilizing the Leach Center for the bulk of our practices over the summer.

Further, if you are going to be in town over the summer, we again have freshmen orientation going on throughout the summer. During these orientation times, clubs and organizations can promote themselves at the Seminole Showcase. If you would like to help out with these events, it would be greatly appreciated. We will set up a table at the Union with flyers, sign up sheets, and information for interested freshmen. We may also be doing some demonstrations as part of our promotions. More information on dates and times to come.

If you have any questions, give me a call on the cell. Or more conveniently via AIM: ngstylez.

Hope you have a safe and productive summer if you are going home. And I'll see you soon if you are in town over the summer!
4/19/04
The last formal practice for the Spring 2004 semester will be this Wednesday, April 21st.

This Friday's practice (April 23rd) will be CANCELLED.

During exam week (April 26 - April 30), we will be having informal workouts at the Leach Center at normal practice times or specified times (will be e-mailed). So if you get bored and want to crawl out of your study hole, come out and practice a bit informally with us! Also, if you feel like practicing any other time, just give me a ring.

The following equipment has been ordered for the club using 2003/04 club funds:
3 staffs, 1 muay thai pad, 2 hand target pads, 2 kicking paddles

That's it for now, more news to come later about practices, summer schedule, and more!
4/14/04
We are approaching the end of the semester! We will be taking club photos at practice this Friday, April 16. If you would like to participate, please remember to wear your club t-shirts and black bottoms. We will be meeting at the Tully Lobby as usual.
3/29/04
First of all, if you do not wish to further receive e-mails from FSU Wushu, simply send a request to fsuwushu@gmail.com and you will be removed from the list accordingly.

Second, we are approaching the end of the semester. We need to elect new officers for the next year (2004-2005). Officers are mostly in charge of organizing the club.

Positions available: President, Vice President, Treasurer These three officers will work together as much as possible. It will also not require too much of your time. I will show you all what needs to be done so don't worry.

Duties:
1) At least one officer needs to attend monthly Sport Clubs Council (SCC) meetings (held in the afternoon, the first Tuesday of every month).
2) Finances. Monthly financial statement needs to be filled out and turned in at the monthly SCC meeting. Budget request for club funds.
3) Organize practices (let people know when and where practices are, updates, news etc). Aquire practice facilities, etc.

One requirement I would like the officers to be able to fulfill is to be able to attend practice as often as possible.

If you would like to help FSU Wushu continue and succeed in the next year, please attend this Friday's practice (4/2/04).

Third, we will be practicing in the Leach Center this Friday (4/2/04) due to an event being held in the Tully Gym. We will meet momentarily in the Tully at 6:00PM as usual then move up to the Leach Center.

If you have any questions about being an officer, or if you would like to be considered for officer positions, please feel free to contact me via e-mail: fsuwushu@gmail.com or more conveniently via AIM: ngstylez.

Our club T-shirts are in!

$10/each for members
$15/each for non-members

The shirts are a bold red color. The design is black. Here is a rough sample of what the shirt looks like:

The T-shirts are 100% cotton, Hanes Comfort-T's.

***If you plan on purchasing t-shirt(s) on Wednesday (or Friday), please e-mail which day you will be at practice and the size you want; and I will bring that many with me.***

What: Wushu Workshop/Demo
When: October 23, 2003
Time: 8PM (will last probably 1 hour, maybe a little more)

For current members if you are available to come to this event, I need people to help demonstrate/setup. Students this semester will be performing CQ1. Other possibilities include mobile stances, stretch kicks, CQ2 punches, etc.

===== Topics that will be presented/demonstrated include:
Stretching: Static & Dynamic, stretcing basics and wushu stretch kicks
Stances: individual stances, stances put together into mobile stances
Dynamic techniques: Front/Back sweeps, Dragon Tail kick, cartwheel, kip-ups

Aerial techniques: Jumping basics, jump front/off air, jump inside/hurricane kick, jump outside, butterfly, aerial
2 Person coreography: implementing what we have learned into a coreographed short 2 person form
Forms: whichever form you have been practicing

For current member who will be attending this event, we have decided to try to look unified by wearing similar color clothing. Since our club shirts will not be available yet, we have decided that everyone should wear a red/garnet top, and black bottom. This is not required, but would be nice if everyone did this.
9/30/03

Greetings Wushu Fans,

First of all, you are receiving this e-mail because you are currently on the FSU Wushu Mailing List. If you would like to be removed from this list, simply send a request to fsuwushu@gmail.com Further, I will probably be sending out mass e-mails from this address (ngexal@juno.com) instead of fsuwushu@gmail.com due to recent increases in internet e-mail worms (which have bombarded the club hotmail account). Non-mass e-mails will still be sent from fsuwushu@gmail.com

Second, thank you to everyone who showed up for our Fall 2003 Interest Meeting and 1st week of practice last week. As a reminder of our practice schedule, our Fall 2003 practice schedule is as follows:
When: Monday's, Wednesday's, Friday's
Where: Tully Gym (Lobby)
Time: 6:00PM - 8:00PM

Third, please remember to wear appropriate soft workout attire (no jeans please) and athletic shoes (low tops or martial arts/wrestling shoes). Also, please remove jewelry before practice (ear rings, necklaces, bracelets, stone cut rings). Also, feel free to bring a towel and water bottle if you would like to.

Fourth, we have decided to change the policy about our club dues. The semester dues will now NOT be required. Instead, we would like to leave this to your own discretion of donating funds towards our club.

Fifth, if you did not know, our webpage is at http://geocities.com/fsuwushu An updated list of enrollment and attendance is kept under the "Club Info" section. If there is a mistake about your information, simply let me know by sending a notice to fsuwushu@gmail.com

Sixth, I hope those who have attended our first week of practices have enjoyed learning and practicing with FSU Wushu. As a slight warning, our training will get more intense, longer, and more demanding. However, if you are committed to learning and practicing consistently, I am confident you will have a good time, increase and improve dramatically in your athletic abilities, and will not regret your investment of time and energy with FSU Wushu.

Seventh, if you have any questions/comments please feel free to contact me:
1) AIM: ngstylez
2) e-mail: fsuwushu
3) phone: 523-1335 (leave message)

We are winding down for the summer. Our last two formal practices for summer 2003 will be Friday, July 25th and Monday, July 28th. I will contact you via e-mail when fall starts with our new practice times and locations.

Tabling for Seminole Showcase went well. FSU Wushu had an information table in the Union for about 10 Freshmen Orientation dates, and has acquired over 30+ interested people. Hopefully, they will still be interested in the fall and will come to practice with us.

Lastly, we have some new photos up on our web page http://geocities.com/fsuwushu. Digital photos are courtesy of Sean Toh for providing his camera. Go check them out!

If you have any further questions or comments, please contact me anytime via e-mail: fsuwushu@gmail.com, or more conveniently via AIM: ngstylez. Please note that I may not be able to respond promptly to your inquires due to limited access to a computer over the break.

Otherwise, keep in shape and stay flexible over the summer break. I hope to see you all ready to train in the fall! Jai yao!!
5/18/03

Hope your summer is going well!

Seminole Showcase, an event where incoming freshman get introduced to student organizations during their orientation will be taking place on the following 15 dates from 11:00AM - 1:00PM:

May 19, 22, 27, 29
June 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 30
July 7, 10
August 18, 20

This will be set up as tables in the Union Courtyard, with organizations having represenatives at their repective tables. I have registered our club for all 15 dates in the effort of promoting our club and to recruit new members to allow for the growth of the club. I will try to make a banner for the club to use at our table and print up flyers for people to pick up.

If your are in town on these dates, please come out and help out with passing out flyers, getting interested people's contact information, answering questions about our club, and demo'ing!

The best way for others to get to know what wushu is about is to show them, and so we will try to set up small demos in the Union Courtyard on some of these dates.

Also, a change in meeting location for the summer training sessions. We will NOT be meeting in the Tully Gym. Instead we will use the Leach Center instead. We will be practicing at the following times:

Wednesday's 6:00PM
Friday's 6:00PM

Location will be on the 3rd floor of the Leach Center, behind the basketball court curtain.

If you are available to help out at Seminole Showcase please let me know! Or have any questions about summer wushu training, please feel free to contact me via e-mail: fsuwushu@gmail.com, via phone: 850-575-8550, or more conviently online via AIM: ngstylez.

If you practice hard, and don't think you are improving... you are, you just don't know it. Keep your spirits up and your jump kicks high! Jai Yao!
5/12/03

Hope everybody is enjoying their summer break. This is to notify anyone who will be in town over the summer about our preliminary summer training schedule. Times and location are subject to change: Wednesday's 6:00 PM Tully Gym Lobby Friday's 6:00 PM Tully Gym Lobby We will most likely be adding more meetings this schedule, and possibly changing times as well. Will keep you updated on these changes. As for our practice location, we will try to use the Leach Center more often as our training facility and continue to utilize the Tully Gymnasium as well so please bring your FSU Cards. Hope to see you at our first summer meeting this Wednesday, May 14th. And as always if you are availble to work out, we can always do some anytime. Continue to exercise and don't let the summer slump catch you! Jai yao!
April 2003
Thank you to everybody who attended and helped to make our first Wushu Workshop a success! We had over 30 people in attendance for this event, which ran about 2 hours long. We hope you all had a good time and learned a bit of what wushu is about. Special thanks to Chu Tan and Mike Chen for their efforts in leading and organizing this workshop. Also thanks to the Asian Student Union for helping to promote this event as an Asian Awareness Month 2003 event. I would also like to acknowledge Lisa Williams, Can Hu, and Jeremy Heiker for performing changquan 1 at the workshop. Pictures of this event will be up as soon as we recieve them. We hope to have more events and demonstrations in the future, in which you all can be a part of, as we share our passion for wushu. The growth of the FSU Wushu Club is made possible by all the dedicated members of the FSU Wushu Club. Thank you all! Sincerely, Alex Ng
3/31/03

This Friday, April 4th. We will be holding a workshop to promote our club and to extend the awareness of wushu. We will be inviting anybody who would like to learn and see a bit of what wushu is about. Please plan to attend if you are available. We will also need a few to demonstrate some of the forms we are learning. This will be at our normal practice time of 6:00PM in the Tully Gym Lobby. Tell your friends and spread the word. Hope to see you there!

Jai Yao!!!
3/8/03
For those who haven't seen them, new pictures are up!

Well, for those of you still in town, we can still practice! Yes!!! If you are available, let's meet Sunday @ 10AM at Tully. Although the Leach Center will be closed, the Tully Gym is usually left open. Either way, we can always workout outdoors if weather permits.

In other news, we will need to meet to elect new Officers for the club! In case you don't know, our current Vice President is Mike Chen, and our current Treasurer is Torsten VanWassenhove. Yes, we need to elect new officers, because it's the consitutional way! Although, I have been sort of a overlord dictator this year, it is because we just got started... and being the communist control-freak that I am... heheh... there wasn't a lot of duties for the officers. But next year will need to be different, we need to delegate the responsibilies of the club to ensure it's continuing growth and success for years to come!!!!!

If you are interested in becoming an officer (nice resume builder), please let me know. We might even admend our generic club constitution to allow for more positions (ie. Secretary, Historian, resident Wushu-Whip to punish those who slack off)! It's not too hard, the main requirement I personally have for future officers is that you are excited about and enjoy practicing! You will be depended upon to attend practices! You need to set a good example to your fellow wushu brothers and sisters!!! As for other responsibilities, we can meet to go over the details. This will be done probably end of March!

Hope everybody has a fun and relaxing Spring Break! Don't forget to practice, and remember to stretch whenever you can!!!

Jai Yao!!!

I've heard that the Tully Gym will not be available to Sports Clubs this Thursday & Friday (possibly even the weekend). There is probably another event going on that requires the facilities.

So, for Friday's practice, does anyone have any suggestions on where we could practice? It will probably be cold out, so outdoors might not be the best choice. Another option would be we could try the Leach Center.

This past Sunday, there was a gymnastics competition in the Tully, and we were in the Leach Center. This, however, may not be as good of a choice considering not all of us are FSU students and also I'm not sure how packed Friday nights are at the Leach. But this looks like what we might end up doing.

Therefore, if you have any comments/suggestions on the matter, please share them ASAP! Nevertheless, I think we can still meet possibly outside Tully this Friday, and see what we can do from there.

The Sports Club Council also released a list of other dates which this situation will occur again. We'll see what we can do as we go along.

Hope to see you TONIGHT (Wednesday, Tully 6:30PM) and also give me your feedback if you can before Friday!

Just a reminder again that we now have Wednesday facilities to workout. If you can show up, please do: Wednesday's, 6:30 PM, Tully Gym Lobby.

For newer people, our practice schedule is again, as follows:
Wednesday's 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM Tully Gym Lobby
Friday's 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Tully Gym Lobby
Sunday's 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM Tully Gym Lobby

And our webpage: http://geocities.com/fsuwushu

Invite your friends if you like, the more the merrier!

See you all at practice.

As mentioned before, we now have a practice facility on Wednesday's. Although our instructor Trent might not be availible, we can still workout together. Therefore, we will be meeting tomorrow for our first Wednesday practice.

What: FSU Wushu Club Practice
When: Wednesday, January 22, 2003
Where: Tully Gym Lobby
Time: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Please try to make it if you can, it will be fun! Also, don't forget about our Friday practice 6:00 - 9:00 PM and Sunday Practice 10:00 AM, Tully Gym Lobby.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Just a friendly reminder about our regularly scheduled formal practice TODAY!

What: FSU Wushu Club Practice
When: January, 17, 2003
Time: 6:00 - 9:00 PM
Where: Tully Gym (Lobby)

In other news, since I wasn't recieving any word from Sports Club about our practice times, I went ahead and asked for em.

Here is what they gave us:
Fridays 6:00-9:00 in Tully Lobby
Wednesday 6:30-9:30 in Tully Lobby
Sunday 1:00-4:00 in Tully Lobby

Notice our new practice spot of Wednesday's 6:30-9:30, and a change to the Sunday practice to 1:00-4:00. Even though it says our Sunday practice is 1:00-4:00, there still may not be anybody using the facilities from 10:00-1:00... therefore we might be able to continue to meet at that time.

We can discuss these times more at practice. If you cannot make it to tonight's practice, come Sunday at the OLD time (10:00AM) or I will e-mail with any changes.

See you all soon!

Since there will be no classes starting Thursday to the weekend for Thanksgiving break, we will not be having our formal practices this coming week.

Friday, November 29, 2002 practice CANCELLED
Sunday, December 1, 2002 practice CANCELLED

See you all next week Friday, December 6th. Sunday, December 8th will probably be our last formal practice of the semester.

Eat lots of turkey and/or duck. Yummy :) Hope everybody has a nice and safe Thanksgiving!

This is sort of a short notice, but we have acquired the use of facilities on Friday's from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the lobby of Tully Gym. If you are able to make it please do, and if not, come on our usual practice on Sundays. Therefore...

What: FSU Wushu Club Practice
When: Friday, November 15th, 2002
Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Where: Lobby of Tully Gym (same place we've been practicing)

Yes, it is near the end of the semester, and yes we will have to request for facilities again next semester, but nevertheless we have another opportunity to practice! :D

We would like to thank Mr. Michael Zhang and Mr. Peter Tan for the splendid in-house demonstration at last Sunday's practice! I'm sure everybody enjoyed it as much as I did. As they mentioned, they are participating with the Institute of US China Culture Exchange, Inc. I will send out and post the information on the webpage about this organization later this week.

Everybody should have received an invitation to join our fsuwushu YahooGroup. This will be a more convient way to communicate with everybody with one address for the mailing list. Please accept the invitation and join the group. If you did not recieve an invitation, let me know and I'll send you another.

That's it for now, I'll send out more news later. Hope to see you all on Friday and/or Sunday!
11/8/02
As you all know, this is a long weekend with Veterans Day on Monday. However, that doesn't mean we can just be lazy. :) Sunday's practice is still on!

What: Formal Practice
When: Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002
Time: 10:00 AM
Where: Meet outside Leach Center

Also, for those inclined to do so, informal workout session Saturday, at the same wushu time, same wushu channel. Please remember to bring your FSU Card because we like to use the Leach Facilities to workout.

On the organization side, I went to the Sport Club Council meeting last Tuesday. There is a point system in the SCC where clubs need to do community service/fundraising in order to be given more consideration for buget requests. What do you guys think about that? Things going on right now include a Canned-Food Drive for Thanksgiving. Therefore, if you have some spare cans laying around that you are willing to donate, please bring them by at Sunday's practice.

Further, I will try to draft a proposal for funding from Student Government Association. They need a formal request as well as some sort of presentation in front of the funding committee to make your propsal for money, including purpose for the money, and how it will help Florida State students. Anybody want to help with this? I am not sure if we are allowed to use SGA money to buy club t-shirts, but we will certainly try to get club shirts in the near future. We can probably get them on our own money, I'll check what prices are. Design submissions are welcome!

Additionally, the University of Texas - Austin Wushu Club has expressed an invitation for FSU Wushu Club members to go practice with them. The offer is quite generous and is for Thanksgiving weekend. I am contemplating going, however a roundtrip Greyhound ticket is running about $160. They are possibly willing to offer housing for the weekend if we decided to go. If anybody else is interested in this or is willing to use their car, please let me know. This will not be a formal summit meeting for FSU Wushu, nor will it be an offical club travel, it will be on a voluntary basis with your own consent.

Lastly, we are considering adding a weekday formal practice to our schedule. Once a week just isn't cutting it! :D Our instructor, Mr. Trent Harrison, is most available on Friday nights. I have contacted Campus Recreation about facility availiablity, and they said there is a 6-8 PM time slot available on Friday. Does anybody have an objection to this proposal? If nobody objects, then it will be considered 'OK' with everybody. We will talk more about this on Sunday.

Practice makes better! Remember to stretch everyday! And I'll see you all on Sunday!
11/1/02
Just a reminder of our practice this Sunday (November 3rd).

Who: FSU Wushu Club
When: Sunday 10:00 AM (11/3)
Where: Meet outside Leach Center

Also, for those of you who are available tomorrow, informal workout session: Saturday (November 2nd), same time, same place.

Further, talked with Sports Club, and they gave me a bunch of paper work... oh well. They also told me that it would not be possible to get funding from Sports Club Council until next year. Despite this, I am still trying to request facilities, and hope to get some news by the end of next week. There will be a SCC meeting on the 5th of November.

Practice makes better, so see you all soon!
10/26/02
We are now an offical registered student organization of Florida State University! This is one of many steps to the top; in establishing our organization. I will try to meet with the Sports Club Council next week about possibly securing a time slot for facilities. We are moving up, steadily and strongly... FSU Wushu Club!

Since the NotreDame football game is today (Saturday 10/26), the Leach center will be closed, therefore no informal practice for those that were planning on showing up. Nevertheless, we will have our usual formal practice this Sunday (10/27).

Who: FSU Wushu Club
What: Formal Practice Session
When: 10:00 AM
Where: Meet outside the Leach Center
Always remember, if you would like to workout or practice any other time, just let us know and we will try to join you! We will try to schedule more formal practices as soon as we get things arranged to do so.

A few announcements to keep you updated. I will be meeting with Organization and Leadership Services tomorrow to review our application for student organization. Hopefully, they will process the application with ease. Also will try to take care of any other paper work that needs to be filed, including getting in contact with the Sports Club Council.

In the meantime, there will be an informal practice on Saturday, 10 AM. This will be a chance for you to practice what we have already learned, or learn and work on some other things. The idea is to have a more relaxed open practice session, so come on out and let's workout together! And as planned, our formal practice session will be on Sunday, 10 AM. This will the our structured class led by Mr. Trent Harrison. We'll meet outside the Leach Center as usual.

Anything else, please contact via e-mail: fsuwushu@gmail.com, via phone: 850-575-8550, or via AIM: ngstylez.

Remember, practice makes better! Hope to see you all this weekend!

Hope everybody had a relaxing weekend/Fall Break. Thank you for those of who showed up yesterday and to Mr. Gregory Rubinstein for instructing.

With the kind support of Dr. Spencer Li of the Department of Criminology, we now have an advisor for the club! Thanks to Ms. Jing Wang for referring Professor Li to us. I have drafted a preliminary constitution, and generated a preliminary club roster. Both are available on the webpage for your reference/editing.

Further, I have requested an appointment with Organization and Leadership Services for reviewing of our club registration application. I hope to be able to meet with them by the end of the week to discuss further matters which need to be delt with and/or other paper work to file.

After doing so, use of university facilities and/or Student Government funding will be issues to look into in the upcoming month or so. Nevertheless, we are on our way!

I think it would be best if we continue to meet every Sunday for our practice session, until a regular schedule can be setup. As a reminder, here is the information for next Sunday's practice:

When: October 13th, 2002
Time: 10:00 AM
Where: Meeting outside the Leach Center, probably will hold our practice in Lobby of Tully Gym (across from the Leach)
Who: You! And feel free to bring friends and spread the word.

And as always, physical conditioning is important, so if you would like to workout, simply let us know when and hopefully some of us will be able to join you. We motivate each other allowing everybody to excel!

If you have any questions/comments feel free to contact via e-mail: fsuwushu@gmail.com, via phone: 850-575-8550, or via AIM: ngstylez at any time. I look forward to seeing you all next Sunday!
9/30/02
Thank you for everybody who showed up for our 1st Interest Meeting/Practice last Sunday. We hope you enjoyed the workout and will remain interested in future practices as FSU Wushu progresses. If you were not able to attend, please try to attend furture meetings/practices.

Since this coming weekend is Fall Break at FSU, some of us will be busy or out of town, including our student instructor Mr. Trent Harrison. However, we can still meet for an informal workout/practice session for those who are still in town this Sunday. Time and location will be the same as last week.

Date: October 6th
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Meet outside Leach Center

Further, as a reminder, there is still an informal open workout session tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 1st) at 6:15 AM, 3rd floor of the Leach Center. As for Thursday morning, since there will be no classes we can have the informal workout session at 10:00 AM. Please be advised there is no parking at the Leach Center Thursday due to the football game. And as always, if anybody would like to workout/practice any other times, but would like the company of others, simply let us all know, and hopefully some of us will be able to join you.

Lastly, as we are still in search of a faculty advisor, any possible persons you know who fits this arrangement, please let me know so that I may contact him/her.

If you have any questions/comments, please feel free to contact anytime via e-mail fsuwushu@gmail.com, via phone 850-575-8550, or via AIM: ngstylez. Thank you all, have a great week and hope to see you soon.
9/22/02
There will be an interest meeting / practice this coming Sunday, September 29th at 10:00 AM. We will be meeting outside the Leach Center. The Leach Center is located: here. This will be an opportunity to gather those interested in forming the FSU Wushu Club, informing you all of what is going on, and a light introductory practice. If you plan to attend, please wear soft workout clothing & athletic shoes. We are still looking for a faculty advisor for the club. If you know a professor who is a martial artist, or a fan of the martial arts, please talk to him/her or let me know so that I may contact them about this arrangement. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail fsuwushu@gmail.com or contact by phone at 850-575-8550, or more conveniently via AIM: ngstylez. Hope to see you all next Sunday!

Things are progressing none the less. I am looking into registering the Wushu Club with Florida State. To register a student organization, we need a full time faculty/staff advisor for the club. If you know anyone that fits the description that might be willing to lend a supportive hand, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll see who I can get to fill this position. I'll talk to Organization & Leadership Services about any other arrangements which need to be made. If you are familiar with student organization matters such as this , your advice would be appreciated. Since the semester already started, and with the lack of space for student clubs like this to meet, I am not sure if we will be able to secure a good location just yet. But we can always practice outdoors weather permitting. This will also be something to look into this week. If you have not e-mailed fsuwushu@gmail.com, please do so, so that I can keep a list of e-mail address to keep you updated with developments. If you are interested in helping to "organize" the club as well, we need all the help we can get! Thanks.
8/29/02
After speaking with a contact... it appears that two very qualified wushu instructors may teach in Tallahassee. They are contemplating the interest group of the FSU Wushu Club or the Tallahassee community. If a large enough amount of interested students is gathered, they may offer to teach in Tallahassee. Search for interested people still in progress. Flyers were posted throughout this week. Search for alternate student instructors still in progress. If you know anybody with any wushu experience, please help spread the word.
8/26/02
Interest gathering version of FSU Wushu Webpage up and running. To post on the forum, simply sign up for a name on gamers.com. Continuing to find interested people and people with experience / student instructor / primary instructor / etc. Your communication is important. This is the organizing stage, so we need feedback and input from you! Please check out the forum, and feel free to start new threads.
